Our Approach

Three things we do better than anyone else.

We are a small, senior team. No junior account handlers, no inflated retainers. Every story is shaped, pitched and placed by someone with two decades of newsroom relationships.

01 · Consumer Champion

Standing up to the big corporations.

When a business (a bank, retailer, energy supplier or insurer) gets it badly wrong, we turn the dial up. We pitch consumer-affairs editors at the nationals, brief broadcasters, and put pressure where it counts so that the people in the right rooms hear about it. If you’ve been let down on a scale that other people will recognise, we want to know.

02 · Parenting & Lifestyle

PR built for the women’s & family press.

The parenting and women’s lifestyle sector is the beat we know best. Long-standing relationships with the right editors, columnists and product pages mean we don’t have to introduce ourselves. We’ve been writing for them, and pitching to them, for years.

03 · National Coverage

Connected, tenacious, fast.

Press releases that read like news, feature ideas pitched to the right desk, and the persistence to follow them through. We work to tight deadlines, we don’t pad our hours, and when something is on the agenda we keep going until it lands.

About

Meet Julie Sherwood.

Founder of Get In The Press. Twenty-five years on the publishing side of the desk, and now on yours.

“Hi, I’m Julie Sherwood. My career spans 25 years of working with both publishers: B2B and book publishing. Through my work, I saw a gap in the market for cost-effective PR that gets on with the job and delivers with minimal fuss.”

I’ve spent two and a half decades on the other side of the desk: writing for publishers, briefing journalists, and seeing first-hand what makes editors pick up the phone, and what makes them hang up. That’s the experience clients get when they work with Get In The Press: the inside track, written into every pitch.

My particular passion is consumer affairs. I love a story where an ordinary person, or a smaller business, takes on a big corporation that thought it could get away with it. Those are the stories the national press wants, and they’re the stories I’m best placed to help land.

The brief is simple: get you in the press, on your budget, without fuss.

Alongside the consumer-affairs work, the parenting and women’s lifestyle beat is where I’m most connected. Throughout my career I’ve had the pleasure of working with clients including Penguin Books, Bentley Jewellers, TheRankTank.com, The Shapers Gym Chain, Splashabout Swimwear and The Parent Practice, to name a few.
